Flowstate recently attended the 2026 API Pipeline Conference & Expo: Pipeline Control Room and Cybernetics Conference in Aurora, Colorado, where we participated as exhibitors and presenters alongside many of the industry’s leading operators, technology providers, and subject matter experts.
The American Petroleum Institute (API) continues to do an exceptional job hosting this event each year. From the quality of the technical sessions to the opportunities for collaboration and networking, the conference is always meticulously organized and highly valuable for attendees. This year’s event, held at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center, provided a beautiful venue and an excellent environment for productive conversations and knowledge sharing. The API Pipeline Conference remains one of our favorite events of the year.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the conference is the opportunity to reconnect with customers, partners, and familiar faces across the leak detection community. These conversations provide invaluable perspective on the operational challenges pipeline operators are facing today, as well as the technologies and innovations they are most interested in exploring. We especially value hearing firsthand about the questions and concerns surrounding emerging trends in leak detection, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

As always, the conference featured a broad range of new technologies and methodologies. Many newer companies brought innovative ideas to the event, while established industry incumbents demonstrated how they are continuing to evolve and stay on the cutting edge.
It is always interesting to observe how end users — particularly mid-size and large midstream pipeline operators — evaluate these emerging solutions. Adopting new technologies in pipeline operations remains a careful balancing act. Operators are eager to embrace innovation and the potential benefits it offers, but they must also ensure that solutions are practical, reliable, and secure enough for real-world implementation. Encouragingly, this year’s discussions suggested that the industry’s appetite for innovation is continuing to grow.
This year, Flowstate delivered two technical presentations during the conference:
- Angie Schrader presented case studies demonstrating how operational changes in pipeline systems can directly improve leak detection performance and overall system effectiveness.
- David Soule presented recent developments in Flowstate’s compressible fluid leak detection solution, including details on our physics-informed deep learning application and validation results from withdrawal testing.
The compressible fluid capability is now included in Flowstate’s latest product release and is currently available to operators. We are excited to continue showcasing this advancement through upcoming industry events and potential podcast discussions in the near future.
Events like the API Pipeline Conference are an important reminder of how collaborative and forward-looking the pipeline industry continues to be. We appreciate everyone who stopped by our booth, attended our presentations, or shared insights throughout the week.
We are already looking forward to next year’s API Pipeline Conference in Orlando, Florida.
